Hiring A Bathroom Contractor
by admin
I have a friend who hired a bathroom remodeling contractor to do complete remodeling of her house. They agreed on a specific date of completion and on a budget based on preliminary assessments. The remodeling project was completed several months and a few hundred thousands beyond the initially defined allotments. By the time the finishing touches were completed, my friend’s savings was completely drained. So was her energy for having stressed so much over the delays and the innumerable unexpected and incidental costs.
Perhaps a good lesson to learn from this would be to take a second and third opinion when having your home assessed for remodeling. With those, you can reach a more realistic and more accurate estimate of what you should and can expect.
Different bathroom remodeling contractors have different areas of expertise and specialties. Determine the kind that you need. Referrals may provide the best results. Or they may not. Assess your contractors well even while they assess your home. Do not be shy about asking to see their portfolios and learn to ask all the pertinent questions. At the onset, do not take any assessment for repair at face value. Ask about what other repairs that specific damage would affect or require. Only then can you reach a better understanding with each other and only then can you have a better preparation.
Sometimes contractors and their suppliers come as a package deal. This is definitely less bother for you than to have to find your own suppliers. However, do not be shy about finding and taking the less expensive option.
