Facebook Recommendations – Are You Using Them?
I believe the most proficient home improvement contractors understand the importance of social media; they are using Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, etc. Yet how many home improvement contractors are utilizing and promoting to their clients the Recommendation Feature on Facebook? The reason for this post is because the relationship that Facebook has with Bing, and Bing has with Yahoo. Facebook Recommendations may be a part of their algorithm that would benefit your website and company.
How do you make a place recommendation?
To make a recommendation, visit your Facebook Place Page and at the top right corner, you will see a text box where you can write your personal recommendation. Once written, you have the option to share it with everyone, your network, friends of friends, friends, or specific individuals. If you are the admin of the page, you may see it in the right sidebar.
Who Sees Facebook Recommendations?
Where are these recommendations visible, besides in the Recommendations box on the Place’s page, in the right column? According to Facebook, “Your recommendation will show on your Wall (timeline) and in the News Feeds of people you choose to share it with.”
It would be beneficial to drive client comments, and testimonials, Facebook users to place a recommendation on your page. Much like the Google Review page for Google Places, this coordinates with Facebook, and will begin showing within Bing and Yahoo and help your overhaul ranking in those search engines.
In order to push recommendations on Facebook it’s important to integrate it with everything you do. From invoices to newsletters to email marketing, include your Facebook icon with a call to action such as “Like and Recommend us on Facebook.”
